Lee Parks Design Laguna Tail Pack
This past winter I ran into Lee Parks at the IMS in Washington, DC. He immediately ushered me to his booth and handed me one of his Laguna Tail Packs. As a fellow journalist and traveler, he assured me that his new product had the attributes to fit my hectic lifestyle perfectly. Truth be told, he hit the nail on the head. The first feature that intrigued me was the microfiber-lined inner front pouch. Perfect, Lee said, for my laptop. My 17-inch Mac checks in a hair large, however, because the pack was designed with a 15-inch screen in mind. No worries though, a pair of Velcro® straps on the pouch's closure flap allow for a little re-sizing and keep my machine snug and well protected. And though the pack is already quite spacious measuring 19.5"x10.5" x10.5", it is expandable an extra 30 percent using the two quick zips located on the sides.
When tour time finally came around, I discovered that the built-in bungees with large plastic hooks made fixing it to the bike a breeze. There are also external Velcro® straps across the back that make attachment to a backrest or sissy bar another hassle-free affair. Once on the road, the bag stayed put securely on the back seat of both a cruiser style and naked bike. But perhaps the most impressive aspect of the Laguna Tail Pack proved to be the rain shield. Though an afterthought too many, this easy to install cover has remained absolutely waterproof and completely intact, withstanding speeds and miles that have shredded many others. If you're going to tout a space for the laptop, it's imperative that water stay out of the picture, and Lee's Laguna delivers.
