Vemar Jiano Helmet

The Jiano helmet, like all Vemars, meets U.S. DOT and EU specifications. Engineered in Italy with comfort and safety foremost in mind, this helmet might be mistaken for a fighter pilot's lid, the way the integrated, tinted inner-shield slides up or down. A lever on the exterior left side lets the rider move the shield into position, and it's even usable with the chin bar up. Other than that genius concept, it looks really cool too; and 2.2mm-thick, anti-fog, non-scratch clear and tinted outer shields are also included. Still, with all those features, a medium Jiano helmet weighs less than 4 lbs. The five-year warranty from the manufacturing date equates to the full usable life of the helmet.

Because it is a flip-up model, there is wind noise, but no rattling goes on. The chin bar can be opened very easily with just one hand, gloved or not. But it is easy to forget to utilize the inner tinted shield. Bad habits die hard, although now when riding into the sun a push of a lever can quickly cure the one called "the squints" – and just imagine how many crow's feet that might prevent in years to come.
